At Orel-Vine we appreciate the fact that parents, families and guardians are undoubtedly the most important influences on a child’s academic, social and spiritual wellbeing. We therefore encourage parents to engage in every aspect of their child’s academic and social experiences both at school and at home.
At home, parents are encouraged to evaluate their children’s learning on a day to day basis. This can be by talking about and asking what they are learning, what was fun at school as well as help the children to develop strong work habits. Parents are also encouraged to pray with their children every day and keep them on a journey of discipline, growth and development.
Several yearly events also see parents participating in every aspect of their child’s school life; Grand Parent’s Day, Career Day, Sports Day, the Science Fair and many others all see families come together to support their children. It’s because of such engagement that both the school and the parents achieve excellent learning outcomes, enhanced participation with school work, regular school attendance, strong character development, increased social skills and a solid Christian foundation.
Parents are encouraged to have high yet achievable expectations of their children and engage them regularly on the value of learning. Parents should encourage positive attitudes and respect for school and teachers but most importantly, model the behaviors they would like to see in their children.
