DANCE

Dance has been said to be the hidden language of the soul. Orel-Vine children are taught to express this art form.

Ballet

An experienced ballet master teaches our ballerinas the basic concepts of classical ballet, movement, music appreciation, rhythm and poise. Ballet lessons at Orel-Vine introduce important ballet basics as well as encourage imagination and creative movement. The lessons include guidance on proper posture, pointe work (ballet feet) and arm positions, as well as various floor exercises. Our ballerinas learn about moving in a routine and working together as a group, body control, co-ordination and elevation. We also focus on self-expression and interpretation. Ultimately each student leaves with a wealth of experience.

Contemporary Dance

Skilled choreographers work with the children to create animate compositions that are as expressive as they are enjoyable. Our young dancers are thereby able to mix various modern dancing styles to not only boost their dancing skill but also tell stories with their movements. Contemporary dance at Orel-Vine is used as a form of unwinding but also builds creative thought and action, a sense of performance and audience, developing kinesthetic, spatial and visual awareness. In the end, contemporary dance builds self-confidence and esteem by providing a medium of enjoyment, motivation, aspiration and achievement.

DRAMA

Drama has been said to be the symbolic language with which we represent the ‘real’ world. Drama stimulates creativity and provides students with an outlet for emotions, thoughts, and dreams. Within drama students can explore a new role, try out and experiment with various personal choices and figure out solutions to problems both from their life and those faced by the characters they portray. Drama moulds communication, self-control, discipline, teamwork, tolerance and empathy. Our children have a chance to attain all these benefits and more through our drama club. Our young actors get a chance to present to the general community through an annual theatrical production.
