·         Develop analytical skills by talking about where fruits come from, how they get to our shops, how to keep them fresh, and changes you can make to fruits, for example by cooking and freezing.

·         Use of simple problem-solving strategies to plan and carry out an investigation into keeping fruits fresh.

·         Make and describe graphic organisers showing sweet- and sour-tasting fruits.

Learning new things

·         Develop skills of reflection by talking about what they have learned and how they learned it.

·         Reflect and talk about what they find easy to learn, what makes a good learner and a good place to learn, and why learning is important.

·         Learn a new skill and find out about schools around the world.

Growing and growing up

(13 hours)

·         Develop communication skills by sharing information, listening to the views of others and responding to thoughts and ideas related to growing up and getting older.

·         Develop the skill of analysis and making connections by talking about how they can use their hands to help others and what they would like to do when they grow up.

·         Throughout the Challenge, learners will also develop their ability to think critically and ask insightful questions.

·         Develop skills of evaluation by reading and interpreting simple texts about litter.

·         Find information about litter pollution and collect and evaluate data from a ‘litter-spotting’ walk.

·         Thinking about what you now know about litter in your area and suggest ways to help solve the problem and to make others aware of the issue.

Working and having a job

·         Develop a variety of research skills, including finding information by reading books and looking at websites, interviewing adults and each other, sorting data and showing findings by writing notes and drawing pictures. This is achieved in the context of finding out about different jobs.
Working together

(12 hours)

·         Develop collaborative skills by working in pairs and groups to discuss music, to create pictures together in response to music they hear, and to compose and perform a simple piece of music.

·         Develop communication and reflection skills by talking about why teamwork is important and reflection on their own and others contribution.
